Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Loses at Edinboro

EDINBORO--Bloomsburg's Brea Lewis (Philadelphia/Frankford) scored a team-high 18 points, but Edinboro University posted a 96-74 win over the Huskies on Sunday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cross-over matchup.
Bloomsburg held an early 4-3 lead after a jumper by Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) and later was tied with the Fighting Scots at 6-6 after a layup from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) with 17:19 to play in the first half.
Edinboro then put together a 10-1 run to lead 16-7 with 14:43 to play. Bloomsburg battled back and trimmed the deficit to five points, 34-29, on a three-pointer by Stephanie Jones (Philadelphia/Manor College) with 2:49 to play. But, Edinboro used a 14-4 run to close out the half to lead by 15 at the break, 48-33.
The Fighting Scots started the second half with a 6-0 run to push the lead to 21 points and the Huskies could not recover. Bloomsburg could get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Along with Lewis getting 18 points for Bloomsburg, Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds with Kegerreis also getting 14 points. Stephanie Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) chipped in with 11, while Joyce added 10.
Edinboro, now 9-4, got 22 points from Samantha Reimer and 21 from Kelsey Conklin.
Bloomsburg, 4-10, will host Millersville in the PSAC Eastern Division opener Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
